WHY BECOME INVOLVED WITH PRO•A?

PRO•A is comprised of trained professional staff, knowledgeable volunteers, experienced and committed Board of Directors and other key supporters dedicated to our mission. Many of the people involved are in recovery and know, first hand, the support that those new to recovery need. We value regular input from the grassroots level as we work to build a nationwide community that is accessible to all. The general public typically does not realize that people with alcohol and other drug addiction can and do live “regular lives.” Misconceptions and misunderstandings still dominate the ways in which recovering people may be perceived. These misconceptions present major hurdles for them. The doors to employment, housing, relationships, and life are often closed because of the public’s lack of awareness. This is when members of PRO•A and our regional organizations are called into action to support change that will unlock doors and open opportunities for people affected by alcohol and other drug addiction.
